Performing Career

Owen Morris is a classical ballet teacher, Pilates teacher, professional dancer and published author, whose career spans international performance and dance education.

Born and raised in Cornwall, Owen trained with former professional dancers Nicola Brice and Terence Etheridge in Cornwall, at Totnes School of Dance and Kennicott Sixth Form, Devon, with further experience through The National Youth Ballet of Great Britain, Duchy Ballet and Cornwall Youth Dance Company. From 2013-2016, he trained at Ballet West, Scotland, touring with the Ballet West Touring Company around Scotland.

His professional performing career began internationally with State Opera Varna Ballet, Bulgaria, where he was a Company Soloist in the ballet company from 2016-2017, also performing in opera and musical productions and touring extensively around Europe. During this period he toured the UK with Vienna Festival Ballet's Snow White, choreographed by Barry McGrath and directed by Peter Malleck. He was a Featured Dancer in Walt Disney Pictures Feature Film The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, filmed in 2016 and released in 2018, choreographed by internationally acclaimed choreographer Liam Scarlett and directed by award-winning film director Lasse Hallström.

Further performance credits include Soloist Dancer in Aida at Stadsschouwburg Antwerp, Belgium (2017), directed by Franco Dragone; Featured Dancer in Semiramide at the Royal Opera House, London (2017), directed by David Alden, choreographed by Beate Vollack and conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano; Company Artist with Cape Town City Ballet, South Africa (2018-2019) and Featured Dancer in Lohengrin at the Royal Opera House, London (2018), directed by David Alden, choreographed by Maxine Braham and conducted by Andris Nelsons. His later performance work includes Featured Dancer in Leila – The Land of Imagination in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2019-2020), choreographed by Anne Tournié and Leigh-Anne Vizer; Gareth Mole & Frances Livesey's Tom's Midnight Garden UK Tour where he originated the leading role of Tom (2021); Featured Dancer in Káťa Kabanová at Glyndebourne Summer Festival, (2021), directed by Damiano Michieletto and choreographed by Chiara Vecchi; Soloist Dancer in Jamiel Laurence Productions 'Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite' at the Cardiff Christmas Festival, Wales (2022); Featured Dancer in Dido & Aeneas with La Nuova Musica and Nicky Spence at the BBC Proms, Royal Albert Hall  (2022) featured dancer for Channel 4 productions (2023); dancer for research and development work with choreographer Marika Brussel; and dancer for corporate and event performances. His classical repertoire includes Giselle, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, La Bayadère and Le Corsaire, alongside contemporary and neoclassical work.

Teaching Career 

Alongside his performing career, Owen has developed an extensive teaching practice across vocational, professional dancer training, talent development, Pilates, conditioning, assessment and international intensives. He is currently a Classical Ballet Teacher at The Royal Ballet School's Associates Programme, at the Royal Ballet Upper School, Covent Garden under the directorship of Iain Mackay. He also teaches classical ballet at Arts Educational School, London Studio Centre, Millennium Performing Arts, Rambert School and City Academy's Professional Dancers Course.

Previously, Owen taught at Laine Theatre Arts, as First Year Classical Ballet Teacher and Second Year Classical Pas de Deux Teacher; Swindon Dance CATS, Trinity Laban CATS, as a Classical Ballet Teacher, Healthier Dance Lecturer and Assessor; and The English National Ballet School, as the Pilates Tutor and Rehabilitation Ballet Teacher under the directorship of Viviana Durante. Owen also teaches professional and adult ballet classes through Pineapple Dance Studios, Danceworks, Central School of Ballet and City Academy. His summer school and intensive teaching includes Elmhurst Ballet School, BBO Dance, Royal Academy of Dance, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Buckingham Dance Studios, Totnes School of Dance, Hertfordshire Ballet Intensive and Brighton Ballet School, alongside international teaching with Mandy Dance Academy, Malta, and the English Ballet School, Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany. His earlier vocational teaching includes London Vocational Ballet School, Bede Legat Dance Academy, St Charles Catholic Sixth Form, while his associate and talent development experience includes Cecchetti Ballet Associates, Ballet Britain, Elite Ballet Project, Almur Academy and the Cape Town City Ballet Outreach Programme. Alongside ballet, he teaches Pilates and Barre at Bodyworks West Health Club and Willesden Sports Centre.​

Owen holds a Level 5 BBO Teaching Diploma in Dance Pedagogy - Distinction (2024), Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance - ARAD (2023), Progressing Ballet Technique Certified Teacher - Junior, Senior & Advanced (2022), Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates - YMCA/HFE (2019), Level 7 BA (Hons) Degree - Northumbria University (2016), Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Professional Stage Dance - SQA (2015), Level 4 RAD Advanced 2 Ballet Award (2014), Grade 5 Violin & Music Theory - Royal Academy of Music (2008) and Level 2 Health & Fitness. His professional development includes Royal Ballet School Healthy Dancer/Teaching Observation CPD, Kerry Nicholls Artist Mentoring Programme, ongoing Safeguarding training, Prevent training, Equality & Diversity training plus Emergency First Aid at Work, yearly updated Enhanced DBS and Public Liability Insurance.

Writing 

In 2020, Owen wrote Some People Come in Pairs and Other Musings, a collection of short stories, comedy and poetry, published in 2022.
